Dobler's Pen relies heavily upon our network of artists, friends and associates to make the fims we do.  They are an incredible part of our success and we thank them for their talent and dedication to our projects.  Please read about some of these 'Usual Suspects' below.

Chris K Layman

"Captain" Chris Layman has been working in the Baltimore / D.C. area professionally since 2003.

Chris got started in theater as part of a work study project in his high school.  He fell in love with the creative control that theater and performance brings.  Working both on the stage and mostly behind the curtain, Chris went on the attend St. Mary's College of Maryland.  After four years, he had written and directed three of his own films and started the Film and Media course of study.  Chris graduated in 2003 with a B.A. in History.

Since then Chris has worked as a script supervisor on Secret Sin, Limo (sit-com) and Lumen.  He can also be seen on screen in a variety of independent films such as When Betty Calls, Death without Consent and Secret Sin.

Chris feels that the ability to tell a story rests within what we learn and interpret about ourselves as a society.  This idea, coupled with an extensive theater and independent film resume, has turned Chris into a consummate actor as well as a talented writer.

Chris has also dabbled professionally in children's books, historical articles, stand-up comedy, and painting.

Chris has been involved with Dobler's Pen since brought on board for Shutter in 2004.  Since then he has gone on to work with DP on Full Circle and m.o.s.  Chris has preformed admirably as various extras and can usually be found working behind the scenes as a grip/PA.

Scott Sonnenberg

Scott has been working in the freelance world of video and film production out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Originally based in the emulsion and film world of cinematography Scott has embraced 24p video.  "The best thing about shooting video is the cost.  Most people find it is easy to work with and how easy it is to light, or not light.  It is often quite hard to make video look good."

His attention to lighting is evident in the three Dobler's Pen shorts he has shot.  Most notably 6:41 winning "Best Cinematography" in the 2003 DC 48 Hour Film Project.  He has a cameo in Matchbook.

Scott received his Master of Fine Arts in Television and Film Production from Chapman University in 2001.
